Royal Caribbean Cruises’ Explorer of the Seas recently underwent a scope of maintenance works at Damen Shiprepair Brest (DSBr). The vessel arrived in July, immediately following the departure of her sister vessel Anthem of the Seas.
Explorer of the Seas underwent a range of maintenance works, including the full overhaul of her four thrusters, work to her stabilisers, hull and superstructure painting, sea water piping renewal, azipod slewing bearing replacement and renewal of complete emergency and auxiliary genset exhausts.
The project took place during the coronavirus outbreak, which entailed DSBr incorporating robust safety measures to ensure that work could take place without compromising the well-being of personnel and crew.
“Thanks to in-depth planning and the excellent cooperation between the yard, the suppliers and the client – with a little help from the weather! – the project was completed on time to everyone’s satisfaction. With this project and recent work on other cruise vessels, including Anthem of the Seas, DSBr has again confirmed its expertise and capability in serving the cruise industry.”
