Damen Shoalbuster 2208
Damen Shoalbuster 2208 proves durability
After 19 years of hard work in the Gulf region, the Damen Shoalbuster 2208 is on its way to Canada to start a new life in operations for Groupe Océan, a major maritime service provider with an extensive fleet of vessels. The vessel left the United Arab Emirates last week.
The vessel has been completely refitted prior to departure: main engines and gearboxes were overhauled; the vessel’s exterior has been completely sandblasted and painted in the colours of the Groupe Océan fleet, lots of steelwork was renewed, and deck equipment overhauled; all to provide the buyers with a quality vessel, suiting the Damen philosophy of sustainable shipbuilding.
To complete the package, Damen Marine Services is providing an own-keel delivery to the port of Antwerp as we speak, where she will be loaded onto a heavy-lift vessel in order to complete the final leg of her journey to Canadian waters.
Since the vessel, formerly known as DMS Raven, was built in 2003, it was part of the Damen Marine Services charter fleet. This vessel has had the highest average occupation rate in the DMS fleet all this time. Given the extensive refit carried out, we expect this vessel will be fit for another 20 years of service; a true new lease of life.
