Cleaning our waterways with the River Scooper

Damen has partnered with Clewat, a Finnish clean-tech company, to produce a cutting-edge solution to fighting pollution in our oceans. It’s a sustainable system designed to filter plastic waste from rivers and inland waterways to prevent it from spreading into our oceans, and so safeguarding marine ecosystems.

The River Scooper 902 HDPE is fully aligned with ESG principles from its design to its operations. Clewat is a leader in environmental conservation solutions constructed from fully recyclable materials and features a hybrid propulsion system.

Prepared for future zero-emission and fully-electric operations, the River Scooper is made from High Density Polyethene (HDPE) plate, meaning it is maintenance free, salt water and UV resistant, and therefore very durable. It can collect up to six tonnes of plastic waste per hour with a minimum filtered particle size of 0.5 mm. This innovative vessel is a front runner in saving our planet while consisting of fully recyclable elements and hybrid propulsion.
